Coaxial Resonator Oscillators (CROs) cover the frequency range where Dielectric Resonator Oscillators,
(DROs) become very large because of the size of the resonator, often called a "Puck". While the coaxial resonator Quality Factor (Q) is not as high as
DRO's, they produce impressive frequency stability and phase noise when used in a properly designed oscillator circuit. The units can be voltage tuned with a varactor over 5% bandwidth and still retain good stability and phase noise.
With the AFC option these units are readily phase locked to a stable Reference Oscillator resulting in excellent close-in phase noise, and by selecting the proper loop bandwidth the far-out phase noise will be that of the coaxial resonator. Surface mount low cost units can be purchased in the
190 Series outline.
